Spring Creek

Spring Creek is a limestone stream which starts above State College and flows north where it meets Bald Eagle Creek. It is one of my all time favorite streams and ranked as second in the state by the PFBC as a catch and relase wild trout stream in the state. Tweleve to fourteen inch fish are common throughout its length with the middle section of the stream being the most populated in my opinion. A three to five weight rod is a good choice for fishing this stream.

Resident trout have an over abundance of water crustacians such as scuds and sowbugs to feed on year round. Spring Creek has some great hatches such as Blue Winged Olives, Sulphurs, Caddis, Tricos and more. With its spring fed system the stream never freezes and is fishable 365 days a year.

There is very little private land which borders the streams and the residents are very willing to let people access the streams. Its very important that we all help keep the banks clean so that we dont lose access to this wonderful resource.
